Black Widow Tetra

The black tetra (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi), also known as the black skirt tetra, petticoat tetra, high-fin black skirt tetra, black widow tetra and blackamoor, is a freshwater fish of the characin family.

Black Widow Tetras are something a little different to other Tetras because of the way their fins are shaped. This is an eye-catching species that will do well in a planted freshwater aquarium.

Ease of care
Easy. This tropical fish is great for hobbyist at all levels however they do need good water conditions.

Diet
The main food we recommend would be tropical fish flake. Occasional live or frozen food can be given as a treat.

Compatibility
Community aquarium. They are a peaceful yet lively species good for beginners.

Breeding
Moderate. Egg layers. Frequently eats its own eggs, so separate from fish after spawning. They will need their own tank with dim lighting to breed easily.

Life Span
They can live to anything from 3-5 years in perfect conditions.
